SCSSA August Webinar - Smart Locks in Self Storage: The Technology You Can No Longer Afford to Ignore

Presented by: Thomas Myint, Business Development Manager at Storage Asset Management (SAM)

August 20, 2026

1pm ET

Zoom

This session breaks down how smart lock technology is reshaping the operational and financial performance of self-storage facilities. Drawing on SAM's rollout experience across 600+ properties in 39 states — beginning in 2019 — Thomas walks through SAM's three-tier smart lock strategy: DaVinci for customer experience, Kiss OneLock as the primary NOI-generating platform, and Noke for development and institutional-grade assets.

Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how to match the right technology to the right property, how to build a tenant adoption plan that actually works, and how smart lock implementation translates directly into revenue growth, expense reduction, and long-term asset value creation.

This is not a technology pitch. It is an operational and financial case for why smart locks are no longer optional — and how to execute the strategy correctly.

Free to members (SCSSA, NCSSA & SSA)
$20 for nonmembers

To continue delivering high-quality educational programs, we will begin charging a small registration fee to attend our seminars. Over the past several years, the cost of hosting events—including venue, food and beverage, speaker expenses, and technology—has increased significantly. At the same time, we are offering a more robust and expanded schedule than in the past, with additional education, industry experts, and valuable networking opportunities. This change allows us to minimize financial loss while reinvesting in our programs and ensuring we continue to provide meaningful value to our South Carolina Self Storage Association members.

Also, non-exhibiting vendor companies may not conduct meetings and/or presentations within the conference & trade show facility and surrounding premises owned by said facility during conference & trade show hours.

Exhibiting vendors, SCSSA members, and staff who witness such activity are asked to gather printed materials and/or event invitations and provide them to the South Carolina Self Storage Conference and Trade Show staff, showing that a direct violation of this policy is about to take place or has taken place.

Any violation of this policy will result in an invoice and charge equal to the fee for one exhibit table being submitted for payment by the offending member/organization. The offending individual or company shall be banned from any future SCSSA activities until said invoice is paid in full. The non-exhibiting vendor consents to the credit card charge and agrees not to make a chargeback request related to such charge.
