About Us

The South Carolina Self Storage Association Inc., a non-profit organization was formally organized on March 12, 2001.  The original purposes of the Association were outlined as follows:

 

  1. To unite the membership in a non-for-profit association of persons, partnership, corporations, limited liability companies, real estate investment trusts and other entities actively engaged in or interested in, the self storage business.
  2. To develop and encourage high standards of business conduct by those engaged in the self storage industry.
  3. To develop through research, discussion and exchange of information, better standards for the development and operation of self storage facilities.
  4. To provide a forum for the education of association members, self storage owners/operators and of the general public.
  5. To provide opportunities for members to increase their knowledge of self storage business and to improve their individual capabilities.
  6. To provide leadership on issues of concern to members of the Association.
  7. To do any and all things that are lawful and appropriate to further these purposes which are found necessary or convenient as permitted by the laws of the State of South Carolina.

J. Wallace - President SC SSA

Jay Wallace puts his extensive management and information-technology background to use as President of Monster Self Storage & Monster Management. After working in Retail, IT and Finance, Jay came to the Self Storage industry where he has successfully built his company and brand into a well known and successful Commercial Real Estate Operator. He has wide-ranging knowledge in construction, acquisition, marketing and managing both large and small self storage locations. His focus on the use of both cutting edge hardware and custom designed software has resulted in a lean and productive operation that is quickly growing to reach all across the Southeast. He has instituted multiple new customer-service offerings and process improvements for his group of more than 18 self-storage locations and has consulted with other operators through Monster Management since 2004. 
Jay graduated from The Citadel with a BS in Business Administration and a concentration in Computer Science.

March Chase - Vice President SC SSA

March Chase is Vice President of Operations at Southeast Management Company which operates seven facilities. Chase has a background in self storage management encompassing all levels of the business. He has had the privilege of working with some of the industry's top management companies and personnel. Having worked in the self storage industry for seven years, some of Chases’s duties include working as a facilitator for managers, making things happen quickly, efficiently and effectively, monthly audits, managing expenses, strategic planning for income gains and thereby pushing each management team to achieve the best results possible. 

 

March has a B.A. in English from Wofford College, is CSSM certified, has written several articles for industry publications such as Inside Self Storage Magazine, Self Storage Now! and Mini Storage Messenger. He is currently a Board of Director for the North Carolina Self Storage Association.

Dale C. Eisenman - Secretary SC SSA

Dale C. Eisenman is President and Broker in Charge of Midcoast Properties, Inc., and is a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. In addition to being a professional pilot early in his career, Dale has practiced law, owned and operated several small businesses and has been an active commercial real estate investor for over 20 years. He now specializes in the self-storage industry both as a self storage investor and as a self-storage broker. As a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Dale brings a unique level of real world experience, knowledge and negotiation skills to each client relationship.

Brad Poe - Treasurer SC SSA

Brad Poe is Chief Operating Officer of Buck Management Corporation and oversees operations of its subsidiary Stockade Storage based in Charleston, South Carolina owning and operating 18 storage facilities in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Brad was part of the initial group that met with McNair Law firm in Columbia, SC to form and kick start the South Carolina Self Storage Association, a not-for-profit member services corporation beginning in March of 2001. Stockade Storage is a privately held company that developed most of their properties from the ground up as well as some acquired locations.

 

Brad Brodie - Board Member SC SSA

Brad Brodie is President of Storage Development, Inc, a turn-key self storage development company, and owner of the Storage R Us facilities in Columbia and Aiken South Carolina. After retirement from Polaroid Corporation, Brad relocated back to his roots in Aiken, SC in 1993. He built the first upscale climate controlled storage facility in Columbia, SC in 1995 and then obtained his unlimited general contractor’s license in both North and South Carolina. For the past nine years Brad has been building and developing storage facilities for other owners in both states. A strong advocate of strength in numbers, Brad’s primary focus within the SCSSA will be the increase in its membership base.

While on a football and baseball scholarship Brad obtained a degree in Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Stephen Wilson serves as the Southeastern Regional Sales Manager for Miller Building Systems, a national manufacturer and installer of pre-engineered metal buildings specializing in self storage, commercial, industrial and religious projects. During Stephen’s extensive 30 year career in the metals industry, he has help design, build and manage both large and small scale projects with an emphasis on ensuring both company and client the highest standards of quality and integrity. Additionally Stephen has focused on education within the industry presenting to numerous architectural firms on specific use of materials, as well as presenting at several state level Self Storage Association meetings.

Stuart Wade - Board Member SC SSA

Mr. Wade has an extensive background in commercial realty and specifically the self storage asset class. He was previously the Director of Business Development for AAAA Self Storage Management Group. He has presented at several National and State level trade shows and conventions and has also authored numerous articles in trade publications. Mr. Wade is a graduate of Chowan College and was named to the Editorial Advisory Board of Self Storage Now! magazine in 2006. He holds numerous FINRA certifications and a Commonwealth of Virginia Real Estate and Property & Casualty Insurance license.
